What you get

Why use Mergevanta to crop a PDF

Drag or type the crop

Drag the box on the page, or type the margins in millimetres for a precise crop you can repeat.

Auto-trim white margins

The tool finds the content on each page and trims the blank space around it — one size for every page, or each page on its own.

Right on rotated pages

Margins are measured on the page as you see it, so the same crop works on portrait, landscape and sideways pages.

Nothing is uploaded

Cropping happens in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device, and text and images keep their full quality.

FAQ

Crop PDF questions

No. Cropping changes which part of the page is shown and printed, so everything outside the box is hidden but still in the file — someone with a PDF editor could bring it back. To remove text or images for good, use Redact PDF.

It sets each page's CropBox — the visible area — to your box. When the box lies inside the page, it also sets the MediaBox, the page's full size, to the same area, so apps that ignore the CropBox show the cropped page too. Text, images and fonts are not changed.

It renders each page at low resolution, finds the outermost marks that aren't white and keeps the border you choose around them. Same for all pages uses one crop that fits every page's content; Each page separately trims each page to its own content, so sizes can differ. Blank pages are left alone.

Yes. Margins are measured from the edges as the page is shown, so “top” is always the top you see — even on pages saved sideways or with page boxes that don't start at zero.

No. Crop PDF runs entirely in your browser, including on phones, so the file never leaves your device. There's no size limit beyond your device's memory.

Yes, if you know its password: the tool asks for it and uses it only in your browser tab. The cropped copy is saved without a password, so use Protect PDF if it needs one again.

Hardly — the hidden part stays in the file, so the size barely changes. To shrink the file, run Compress PDF afterwards.
